My work builds upon cognitive science theory and method to study innovation in the use of information in organizations and society. My students and I use this knowledge to guide the development of advanced visual information systems and for directing basic research in distributed cognition. Our collaborative design approach relies upon partnership with companies, not-for-profits, and government agencies.
